Melinda Jane Lefebvre
Melinda Jane Lefebvre, affectionately known as Mindy, was born on March 28, 1953, to Ralph and Jane Estabrook in Newburyport, Massachusetts. She passed away peacefully in Newport, Vermont, surrounded by her loving family, following a brief battle with cancer.
On May 31, 1975, Mindy married the love of her life, Robert Lefebvre. Together, they built a life centered around family, hard work, faith, and their dairy farm in Holland, Vermont. Side by side, they worked each day, creating a home and a life they were proud to share.
On November 8, 1982, their greatest accomplishment became a reality with the birth of their daughter, Haley Brook Lefebvre. Haley was the center of their world, and Mindy embraced motherhood with the same love, energy, and devotion she brought to everything in her life.
Mindy had a deep love for the Lord and a strong, steadfast faith that guided her throughout her life. Her faith was not simply something she believed; it was something she lived through her kindness, generosity, service, and love for others. She was a devoted member of The Morgan Church and gave generously of her time and talents to her church family. She took great pride in landscaping and caring for the church grounds, making them beautiful for all who gathered there. She was also known for the countless Sunday coffee hours for which she lovingly baked and prepared food. Through these simple acts of service, Mindy created a welcoming place where people could gather, visit, and feel at home.
In 1999, Robert and Mindy sold their farm and moved to Hartland, Vermont, where they built two beautiful homes and established a home décor business. Upon retirement, they became snowbirds, happily splitting their time between Port Charlotte, Florida, and Holland, Vermont.
On March 11, 2024, Haley and Clinton Olson welcomed their daughter, Jane “Janie” Marie Olson, into the family. Janie was a true blessing and treasured beyond words by both Robert and Mindy. Becoming a grandmother (Nana) brought Mindy another special joy, and she cherished every moment with her granddaughter.
For those fortunate enough to have known Mindy, it was clear that she lived life to the fullest. Everything Mindy touched seemed to become a thing of beauty. She took great pride in her perfectly landscaped properties, lovingly prepared meals, beautiful decorating, and in making any place feel like home.
Mindy gave her all to everything she did. She loved snowmobiling and side-by-side rides with family and friends, spending time at her favorite beach, Boca Grande Beach, and caring for her lawn on the hill, as she affectionately called their home on Line Farm Road. She loved tending her flowers, swimming in the pond, mowing the lawn at family camp, and spending Sunday afternoons with her mother-in-law, Rita.
She graciously welcomed anyone who visited them in Florida and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She especially enjoyed helping Haley and her family paint and decorate their home in Florida. These are just a few of the many things that brought Mindy happiness, but what mattered most to her was sharing them with the people she loved.
Mindy is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Robert; her daughter, Haley; her son-in-law, Clinton; and her beloved granddaughter, Janie. She is also survived by her brother, Worthern Estabrook, and her sister, Diane Rowell and her husband, Dale; her mother-in-law, Rita Lefebvre; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Andre Lefebvre and his wife, Sherry; Ivan Lefebvre and his wife, Gerri; Denise Sykes and her husband, Ken; Raymond Lefebvre and his wife, Diane; Mark Lefebvre; Lynn Petry and her husband, Damian; Bill Worth and his wife, Joanne; her beloved cousin Deborah Matheson; as well as her goddaughter, Lisa Brown and her husband Kris and their family.
Mindy was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Jane Estabrook; her sister-in-law, Sylvie Worth; and her father-in-law, Gaston Lefebvre.
She found joy in making things beautiful, but perhaps her greatest gift was the way she made people feel—welcomed, cared for, and loved. Her life was a beautiful reflection of her faith and the love she had for others. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
