Donna R. (Moffatt) Waterhouse passed away peacefully in her home on October 11, 2026. She was born September 18, 1945, the daughter of Morton and Doris Moffatt of Morrisville, VT and graduated from Peoples Academy in 1963, the first in her family to earn her diploma. She often told stories of her youth and held a special place in her heart for the Morey Farm in North Wolcott. It was at Deuso's Dance Hall in Eden that she met her future husband and love of her life James (Jimmie) Waterhouse of Craftsbury, VT. Together they had four children, which grew into seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Raising them was something she considered her greatest honor and accomplishment; her door and kitchen were always open to them, her beloved nieces and nephews, cousins and any of their friends. Her kitchen table was a welcoming place for everyone she knew, her coffee hour a legendary time for her and best friends to connect almost everyday. She was a silent supporter for any child in need, always knowing who needed it. An avid reader and supporter of education, she often followed what her children were reading in school and kept a sharp eye out so that they would never fall behind on academics. She made wool hats to supplement her husband income on the farm, only taking time off in the fall to make Christmas wreaths. Her goal was to ensure everyone got what they were hoping for and then some, which brought her great joy. Whether there was extra or not quite enough in the house, their children never knew as she and her husband created a life rich in love and happiness.
She was pre-deceased by her mother and father as previously mentioned, her beloved sister Francise (Frannie) Griggs of Eden, VT, brother Wayne Moffatt of Essex , VT, Brother Gaylord Moffatt of Morrisville, VT, and sister Jean Emerson of Southern VT, Her father-in-law Herman Waterhouse of Craftsbury, VT and sister-in-law Jennette (Waterhouse) Pare of Newport, VT.
She is survived and will be forever missed by her husband of 62 years James Waterhouse of Craftsbury, VT, Daughter Lisa Jones and her Husband Kevin of Eden, VT, Son Gordon Waterhouse and his wife Heather of Craftsbury, VT, Son Eric Waterhouse and his wife Brenda of Wolcott, VT and Daughter Sherry (Waterhouse) Marcelino and her husband Michael of Johnson, VT, her mother-in law Fay Waterhouse of Craftsbury, VT, Brother in-law Harold Griggs of Eden, VT and Sister-in-law Cathy Cole of Craftsbury, VT. Her pride was endless for her grandchildren, all of whom also survived her, Emily Lavalette, her partner Craig Godfrey and their children Wallace and Scarlette, Brittany Hughes, her husband Mike and their son Stetson (plus baby Hughes), Jacob Jones, Kisiah Dolan, her husband Levi and their daughter Briar, Jordanne Waterhouse, Holden Marcelino and Jonah Marcelino. Her numerous nieces and nephews were always in her heart and on her mind as well, always sharing their accomplishments in life.
Her family would like people to consider donating to the Lamoille Family Center or the American Red Cross in lieu of Flowers. If you are able, consider donating blood in her name as the donations of others gave us the last few years she had on earth.
A funeral service will be held at the United Church on the Common on October 24th at 11am. The burial will be immediately following at the Branch Cemetery in Craftsbury. All are welcome to join a light luncheon after the services. Online condolences are welcomed at curtis-britch.com. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Curtis-Britch & Bouffard Funeral Home & Cremation Service, locally family owned & operated.
