Darlene Alice Colt Baraw

Darlene Alice Colt Baraw, 92, of Derby Line, Vermont passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 22, 1934 in Derby, VT to Reginald and Alice (Bowen) Colt. On May 17,1955 she married Harold W. Baraw who predeceased her.

Darlene was a teller at the CT National Bank and Trust in Coventry, CT for several years. After working at the Connecticut National Bank she retired and moved back to her home state of Vermont where she enjoyed retirement with her husband. Among her hobbies, she was an expert playing the accordion for family and others, especially near the holidays and she played until her health no longer allowed for it. For 60 years or more she enjoyed summers on Salem Lake in Derby. She also enjoyed knitting many hats, scarves, Afghans, and mittens for anyone who needed them. She did this until her hands could no longer do it. To this day her many Afghans are still in use.

She is survived by her children: William D. Baraw and his wife Laurie of Coventry, CT, Bonnie L. Baraw and her life partner Robert Biederman of Derby Line, VT, Peter R. Baraw and his wife Annie of Springhill, Fla. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brandie Reader and Rusty of VT, Kyle Malon of Derby, VT, Billy Baraw of Chicago, Ill, Sheila Hammett of Texas, Hannah Baraw of Fla, Devin James of North Fort Myers, Fla and Amber Aubin of Fla, and by many great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family, 2 daughters-in-law: Tracey Baker Baraw of Fla, and Sally Baraw of Texas and by 2 special caregivers Debbie Kippen and Tammy Baraw.

She was predeceased by her husband Harold in 2002 and by her two sons: Timothy Wayne Baraw in 2019 and Andre Harold Baraw in 2024.

Funeral services will be held on Friday September 25,2026 at 3:00 P.M. at the Curtis-Britch & Bouffard Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, Newport with the Rev. David Lisner officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday September 25,2026 from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of the funeral. Interment will follow in Derby Cemetery.On-line condolences are welcome at cutis-britch.com.
