Cecile Provencher

Cecile J. (LaFlamme) Provencher passed away on October 19, 2026 at home, surrounded by family, in Newport Center, Vermont, at the age of 87. Born in Berlin, New Hampshire, on July 18, 1939, she was the middle child of Raymond F. LaFlamme and Victoria Cloutier of Berlin.

Cecile married her beloved husband, David E. Provencher, on May 30, 1959. Together they built a wonderful family and raised three children, of whom Cecile was deeply proud. David predeceased her in 2013.

A devoted stay-at-home mother, Cecile later worked as a cook at Newport Health Care Center for 10 years. She especially enjoyed visiting the family cottage in Maine, particularly after Dave retired. With the help of family and neighbors, she was able to continue living independently after her husband’s passing.

Cecile lived with dignity and generosity toward others. She managed health challenges, especially fibromyalgia, with humor. She enjoyed listening to Waylon Jennings, playing computer games, reading, coloring, and doing puzzles.

She is survived by her children: Denise Piette and her husband, Real, of Newport, Vermont; David Provencher, Jr. and his husband, Randy, of Tampa, Florida; and Donna Young and her husband, Jim, of Newport, Vermont. She also leaves six grandchildren—Jason Piette, Amanda Brand, Elizabeth Waring, Jacqueline Brochu, Rebekah Moore, and Victoria Young—and eleven great-grandchildren. Her sister, Athena Edwards of Manchester, New Hampshire, also survives her.

Cecile was predeceased by her sister, Rose Morel of Keene, New Hampshire.

Memorial donations may be made to the Red Cross or the Pope Memorial Frontier Animal Society. The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date.
