Violette Maryjane
Verge
May 21, 1935 — Aug 15, 2024
Violette Maryjane Verge, affectionately known as Vi to her friends and family, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on August 15, 2024, in Rhinebeck, New York, at the side of her granddaughter, Kristen Verge. Born on May 21, 1935, in Jay, Vermont to George Mayhew and Zelia (Lague) Mayhew, Violette lived a life marked by dedication and faith.
She was a sister, mother, and a supportive presence to all who were blessed to cross her path. She now rejoins in the Kingdom of Heaven her beloved husband Arthur Verge Jr., her son Arthur Verge III, her sisters Muriel Flood and Ozilda Pouliot, and her brothers Ernest, Gilbert, and Maurice Mayhew. She leaves behind her dear sister, Germaine Beldon; her son, Andre Verge and his wife, Linda; and her cherished grandchildren, Kristen, Caitlin, Elizabeth, and Cassandra Verge. She was a treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews who will hold her memory dear.
Violette worked beside her siblings on their family farm in Jay, Vermont before marrying her husband, Arthur, on February 2, 1961. Their family moved to New Jersey where Vi worked for many years as a secretary in the family business. Violette and her husband returned to their home in Westfield, Vermont for retirement.
Among Violette's many interests, gardening was a source of particular joy. Violette was devout in her faith as a Christian and a constant servant of the Lord. Vi's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the memories she created and the love she shared. Her influence will continue to be felt in the lives of her family and friends, and the values she instilled in them will be her lasting legacy.
