Obituary

Viola "Poochie" Hauver, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Holland, Vermont, on March 6, 2026. She was born on August 7, 1944, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Victor and Lillian (Hopley) Cella, both of whom predeceased her.

Viola graduated from American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she earned her bachelor's degree. She devoted her life to helping others and worked as a social case worker in Massachusetts before continuing her career in Goldsboro, North Carolina, and later in Newport, Vermont. Her compassion and dedication touched the lives of many people throughout her career and community.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soulmate of 54 years, Albert Hauver. Though she faced health issues later in life, many in her family believe she ultimately passed from a broken heart after the loss of the love of her life.

Viola was the second of five siblings. She was predeceased by her older sister, Marilyn O'Brien of Cobleskill, New York. She is survived by her siblings: Russane Wescott (Joseph) of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts; Victor Cella (John) of Southfield, Massachusetts; and Wendy Coltey (Leo) of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts.

Her children were the pride and joy of her life. She leaves behind her son Raymond Hauver and his wife Tonia of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, and her son Lance Hauver of Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Viola also leaves five cherished grandchildren: Brittni Radford (Matt), Larissa Parker (Alex), Ronnie Gobin, Nate Hauver, and Geoff Hauver; and four beloved great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Luke, Mackenzie and Jude.

She was an active and devoted member of the Holland Community Church, the Holland Historical Society, and the Northeast Kingdom Home Care Board. Viola was known for her quick laugh, warm heart, and deep love for her family and community.

She especially enjoyed family trips to the beach in Maine and spending time in Gulfport, Florida. During the holidays, her homemade Christmas treats were a highlight for family and friends, and she was well known for making the very best baklava.

Viola will be remembered for her kindness, intelligence, strength, generosity, and the joy she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she is gone from our sight, the love she gave her family will remain forever in their hearts. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday april 6, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at the Holland Community Church.
