Velma E. Coburn, 96, of Newport, VT passed away on April 22, 2025 in Newport, VT. She was born on October 5, 1928 in Newport Center, VT to the late Floyd and Mable (Snider) Norway. On July 23, 1981 she married Duane Coburn who predeceased her on September 23, 2007.

During her lifetime Velma worked at Fisherman's, JJ Newberry's, WT Grant Department stores before finally retiring as manager of ORLEX Government employee credit union. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. She was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She would teach the churches young women's group with things like baking and sewing among others.

She is survived by her children Ann Cordeau and her husband Dan of Derby, VT, Ray Pronto and his wife Denise of Jupiter, FL, Elaine Kahn and her husband Richard of Annapolis, MD and Charlie Pronto and his wife Lindi of Newport, VT, 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, her half brother Bruce Norway, half sisters Amy Gray, Arline Pettengill, Flo Verge and Betty Ferazzi.

She was also predeceased by her brothers Marvin and Edwin Norway, sister Hilda Pion and half sister Donna Norway.

Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service a 12:00 P.M. on Saturday April 26, 2025 at the Curtis-Britch & Bouffard Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, Derby.
