Timothy A. Hamblett died peacefully at home on January 14, 2026 of complications from Familial Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born on July 17, 1943 to Tarlton and Jessie Hamblett. His father passed away from the same disease. He was married to Beverly Belway Hamblett in 1968 who survives him. He is also survived by his children Christopher (Karen) and Gregory (Danielle) as well as grandchildren Zackery, Ashton, Bryn and Ayla and great granddaughter Ophelia. He is also survived by his brother Michael (Jackie). He was predeceased by his parents and brother Ralph (Rick).
Tim was a graduate of Rider University and was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam in 1967-1968. He met his wife Beverly after graduation from Rider and they were married after his return from Vietnam. They moved to Burlington for Beverly to complete her degree in Education from UVM. Tim went into a management training program with the Aetna Insurance company in Burlington. After Bev graduated they returned to Newport and Tim joined the Associated Insurance Agency. He joined the family business in 1975 and under the R.F. Hamblett Inc. umbrella The Pick & Shovel was started. Tim and cousin Douglas continued The Pick & Shovel and it is today actively run by Chris and Greg. Beverly retired from teaching and established the Clothing and Footwear department at the store before retiring for the second time.
Tim had a small mini farm and raised many animals including a small herd of Miniature Donkeys. He enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, and with Bev as passenger his Harley motorcycle. They enjoyed several long trips on the Harley with trips down the Pacific Coast Highway-Death Valley-Mt St. Helens and Yellowstone. He for several years flew a Powered Parachute and could be seen in the sky above Newport.
At Tim's request there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
