Ruzena Josefa
Staab
May 28, 1926 — Jul 17, 2024
Ružena Josefa Staab (1926-2024)
Ružena Staab passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on July 17, 2024, in Nashua, NH.
She was born and raised in Czechoslovakia (now Czechia). In the early days after World War II, Ružena met her husband Raymond, an American officer who participated in the liberation of Czechoslovakia. She embraced a new life in the United States, yet remained close with her Czech family and heritage, even when the Cold War kept them apart.
During the 1950s and 1960s, Ružena and Raymond raised three children. His military and banking career brought them to many states— from Georgia to North Carolina to Pennsylvania — settling in Vermont, New Hampshire--eventually retiring in Florida. Her talents were diverse. She was an accomplished seamstress and knitter. An avid sportswoman, she reveled in skiing and especially golf, a passion she shared with her husband and a wide circle of friends. Summers found her at the lakeside cottage in Vermont where she enjoyed the water and surrounding nature. She was an amazing baker, and Ružena's holiday cookies were legendary. She was a formidable card player and loved all card games, especially bridge. Ružena left a lasting impression on the lives of those who knew her. The family would like to thank the staff of the Courville at Nashua for their kindness and care of Ružena.
She is predeceased by her husband Raymond. She will be greatly missed by her family: daughter Jana (Enno Busse), son Charles (Cheryl), and daughter Lydia; her grandchildren Maria, Heather, and Katie (Jim Shannon); great-grandchildren Nora and Avery.
A burial service on July 29th 11:00am is to be held at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Curtis Road, in Stanstead, Quebec.
