Robert J. Stringer, 82 of Newport, VT passed away on March 10, 2026 in Newport, VT with his family by his side. He was born on February 22, 1944 in Norwich, CT to the late Joseph and Eva (St. John) Stringer. On July 14, 1979 he married Caroline Flood who survives him.

Robert was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for Yaworski Trucking for over 40 years before he retired. He grew up in Griswold, CT before moving to Central Village, CT before retiring to Newport, VT. He enjoyed mowing the lawn, being outside, tinkering, long drives to the ocean, old cars and trucks and animals especially his cat Tia and dog Coby.

He is also survived by his children Dawn (Stringer) Mongeau and her husband Brian, Gary Davio and his wife Jessica,  Robert "Todd" Stringer and his wife Sandy,  CarolAnne (Davio) Tucceri and her boyfriend David Martin,  grandchildren Chantelle, Amber, Brandon, Amanda, Tyler, Chandler, Joshua, Troy, Trystan, Hannah, Mayah and Hollyn, 12 great grandchildren, brothers Danny, Gary and Ricky as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, son Danny and brother David.
