Richard L. Farrar, 95, of Newport Center, VT passed away January 29, 2026 in Barton, VT. He was born on October 26, 1930 in Newport, VT to the late Harry and Sophia (Magoon) Farrar. On September 1, 1955 he married Clarice Marks who predeceased him on October 4, 2025.

Richard retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of dedicated service, having served during the Korean War. After his retirement from the Air Force he worked as a truck driver and later as a dairy farmer and even was a Selectman for Newport Town for many years.  He loved playing music and could play many instruments such as the violin, upright bass, and steel guitar. He played with New Country Echos for many years. Richard also played basketball in high school and later in life he enjoyed bowling. He always had a special place in his heart for his dogs.

He is survived by his children, Charles Farrar and his wife Evelia of Troy, VT, Laura Provoncha and her husband Wendell of Newport Center, VT, Dianna Bartlett and her husband Nathan of Maryland and Bonita Deslandes and her husband Mark of Westfield, VT, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and his sister Lucille Driver of Charleston, VT.

He was also predeceased by his brothers Donald and Wayne Farrar and his sisters Velma and Eureta.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday May 2, 2026 at Newport Center Cemetery with Rev. David Dizazzo officiating.
