Richard L.
Eastman
Dec 8, 1954 — Aug 3, 2026
Richard L Eastman:
Richard (Rick) L. Eastman of Newport Center, VT, passed away on August 3, 2026, at the age of 71. He entered heaven the way he lived his life — with courage, dignity, and grace — after a short battle with cancer. Rick was born on December 8, 1954, in Newport, VT, the son of Alton and Geraldine Eastman.
Rick was a longtime truck driver, and in 1991 he proudly established R. Eastman Trucking. He took great pride in his work and in the many hobbies that brought joy to his life. Rick loved golfing, hunting, visiting casinos, and spending time with family and friends. He especially cherished watching his grandson, Jordan John, play basketball. Some of his happiest moments were spent in Florida — trying his luck at the casino, enjoying the golf course with his longtime friend Stan Robson, and sharing countless memorable hunting trips with his brothers‑in‑law Richard McAllister, Ricky Sheltra, and Raymie Sheltra.
Rick is survived by his son Richard Eastman and fiancée Karen Carr; his son Jimmy Eastman and grandson Jordan John Eastman; his sisters Judy Brown, Colleen Loomis, and Laurie Eastman; sister‑in‑law Ann Gustin and Richard McAllister; brother‑in‑law Roger Sheltra and his wife Nadine; sister‑in‑law Vickie and her husband David LaClair; sister‑in‑law Mary Perrault and Clifford Martin; brother‑in‑law Raymie Sheltra and his wife Karen; brother‑in‑law Ricky Sheltra and his wife Peggy; brother‑in‑law Reynolds Sheltra and his wife Sondra; brother‑in‑law Danny Culberson; and special friend Venise Marquis. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and great‑nieces and great‑nephews.
The family would like to thank the many friends who provided support, comfort, and assistance during this difficult time.
Rick is predeceased by the love of his life, Connie Eastman; his parents, Alton and Geraldine Eastman; his brothers, Albert and David Eastman; his mother‑in‑law Elsie Fontaine and stepfather‑in‑law Gerard Fontaine; and his sisters Linda Webb and Tina Culberson.
Rick's life was filled with hard work, adventure, and the joy of family. His memory will forever be carried on the open road, across the golf course, and in the hearts of all who loved him.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Newport Center Cemetery for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Halo Foundation – 1073 Upper Quarry Road, Newport, VT 05855 or the Pope Memorial Frontier Animal Society – 4473 Barton Orleans Road, Orleans, VT 05860
