Obituary

Raymond J. Phillips, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his most important people on July 19th 2024. Born on January 10, 1965, Ray was the cherished son of the late Raymond and Roxana Phillips of Lowell and siblings Melody, Francine, and Timothy.

Ray was predeceased by his esteemed parents-in-law, David and Muriel Boyce McCarthy of Bolton Center, Quebec. They embraced him as their own, offering boundless love and unwavering support, and their relationship with Ray was marked by deep affection and mutual respect.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Ann McCarthy Phillips of 39 years. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared a lifetime of memories. He was the proud father of Anthony Phillips (wife Sara) and their children Dillon (Liris), Tristan, and Vivienne; Sarah Phillips Standish (husband Anthony) and their children Levi and Dawson; and Jennifer Phillips (Damen) and their sons Jaxon, Brody, and Myles and his beloved dog Gunner.

Ray's greatest passion was spending time in the great outdoors, fishing and hunting with his family and lifelong friends Tim Gerrow, Bob Fournier, Ace Greenia and Bob Granai. He found immense joy on the boat and at camp, creating countless cherished memories with his loved ones. Ray was a master plumber and a skilled taxidermist, known for his dedication and craftsmanship in both fields.

Ray was a proud Abenaki with the St. Francis-Sokoki Band of the Abenaki Nation of Missisquoi, cherishing his heritage and the traditions of his ancestors.

Ray lived an extraordinary life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. His family was the center of his world, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Timothy and Kimberly McCarthy and their children Micheal and Brittany, for their unwavering support and love during this difficult time. He will truly be missed by his in-laws Susan (Mike), Roger (Lucy), and Matthew. Ray was so blessed to have many loving nieces and nephews.

Ray will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

A private funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NRA, 11250 Waples Mill Rd, Fairfax, VA 22030, or simply take a kid fishing in Ray's honor.
