Philip "Phil"
Hebert
Nov 24, 1948 — May 27, 2026
Philip "Phil" Hebert, 77, of Newport, died on May 27, 2026.
Born on November 24, 1948, in Barton, Phil was the son of Antonin and Cecile (Diette) Hebert.
On October 31, 1992, Phil married the love of his life, Sallie Warren. Together they shared many happy years, making their home in Virginia, Montana, and Alabama, and creating cherished memories and lasting friendships along the way. Sallie predeceased him on March 30, 2021, but their love and the life they built together remained close to his heart.
A skilled carpenter for many years, Phil was known as a true "jack of all trades." There seemed to be nothing he couldn't build, repair, or figure out. His ingenuity, determination, and willingness to help others made him someone family and friends could always count on.
Being very patriotic, Phil was awarded the ambassador of patriotism title by the Newport American Legion Post 21.
Known throughout the Northeast Kingdom as the "Karaoke King," Phil brought joy, laughter, and music wherever he went. He also enjoyed teaching line dancing and sharing his love of music and entertainment with others. His karaoke family held a special place in his heart, and the friendships he formed through the years meant the world to him.
During his final year, Phil was blessed with the care and companionship of his dear friend, Leona Glover, who stood by his side and cared for him throughout his illness. Her kindness, support, and friendship brought him great comfort.
Phil is survived by his daughters: Samantha (Daneil), Felicia (Chuck), and Maureen (Roy); his siblings: Ronald Hebert and his wife, Anne, Rodney Hebert, Terry Hebert and his wife, Joyce, Dennis Hebert, and Craig Hebert and his significant other, Kathleen; his brother-in-law Rasom Adams and his wife, Becky; his sister-in-law Margaret; along with many nieces, nephews, several grandchildren, extended family members, dear friends, and members of his karaoke family.
In addition to his wife, Sallie Warren, Phil was predeceased by his parents, Antonin and Cecile Hebert, and his siblings: Charmaine Adams, Pammy Hebert, Michael Hebert, and Robert Hebert.
Phil will be remembered for his love of music, his sense of humor, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his ability to make people smile. Whether he was building something, teaching a dance, singing a favorite song, or simply spending time with those he loved, Phil lived life on his own terms and left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
As Phil requested, a karaoke memorial celebration of life will be held on July 25 from 1-4 p.m. at the American Legion in Newport. Family and friends are invited to gather to share memories, music, and celebrate the life of the Northeast Kingdom's beloved "Karaoke King." The celebration will be a potluck, and guests are welcome to bring a favorite dish to share as they come together in remembrance of Phil. Online condolences at curtis-britch.com.
