Patricia Ann Canter, wife of the late Dr. Bernard Canter, MD, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, June 12, 2024 at the age of 93.

Patricia Ann (Tinker) was born on May 27, 1931, the daughter of the late Otis and Lida Tinker. She graduated from Orleans High School in Orleans, VT in 1949. She loved sports, starting in the first girl's softball team and playing basketball.

In the fall of 1949, she went to work for Montgomery Wards. In 1951 she and her best friend, Teresa "Mike" Moeykens moved to Massachusetts. She lived there 36 years. She worked for Old Colony Envelope for 10 years.

During her lifetime she worked in many stores; she was a manager of the stockroom for Landis Stores and Assistant Manager for Stitchery Fabric. In 1972 she married Bernard Canter, MD and was widowed in 1978.

In 1987 she moved to Oceanside Village in Surfside Beach, SC. She worked for American Greeting Card company for 23 years as of 2011.

In later years, she loved to play cards, bocce, bingo, dominoes, read and doing crossword puzzles. She dabbed in oil painting, wrote poems and wrote a children's book in 1996.

She was proud that her ancestors were John and Patricia Alden who came over on the Maylflower.
She is the aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt and great-great-great aunt to many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she had 4 sisters: Edna, Mariam, Beatrice, Norma and 4 brothers: Arland, Allyn, Neil and Richard who predeceased her.

Pat was a very strong, independent Vermont born woman. She would do anything for anyone at any time.

A graveside service will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, East Street, Orleans, Vermont 05860 at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
