Obituary

Norman Joseph Devost

October 15, 1951 - July 24, 2026

It is with profound sadness that the family of Norman Joseph Devost, 74, of Highgate, Vermont, announces his passing on July 24, 2026.

Norman grew up in Island Pond, where he attended local schools and developed the strong work ethic and determination that would define his life. He later married the love of his life, Joan Devost (LEsperance), and together they built a wonderful life and family.

Norman was the kind of man who could fix just about anything. Whether it was working on cars, repairing equipment, there truly wasn't much he couldn't do. Some of his happiest moments were spent on warm summer evenings sitting on the deck with his boys drinking a cold beer, telling stories and enjoying each other's company. His grandchildren adored their Papa, and some of their most cherished memories will forever be the nights spent gathered around one of his fires, where he toasted the perfect marshmallow for each of them.

Norman is survived by his sons, Christopher LEsperance, Rodney LEsperance, Norman Devost, and David Devost and his wife, Christina; his 13 beloved grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his brother Steve Devost, who faithfully stood by his side every day, several other brothers and sisters; along with several in laws, special nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan Devost; and several other family members.

In accordance with Normans wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Maple Lane Nursing Home for the exceptional care, kindness, and respect they showed Norman during his time there.
