Neil Clarence
Young
Nov 29, 1936 — Nov 13, 2025
It is with a mixture of sadness and joy that we share the news of Neil Clarence Young's death on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at the age of 88. Sadness because we will miss him dearly; but joy because he is now in the presence of Jesus, his Lord and Savior.
Neil was born in West Glover, Vermont on November 29, 1936 to Clarence G. Young and Ruth Baker Young. He graduated from Barton Academy.
In 1957 he met and married his life-long partner Yolande Palardy Young with whom he shared 68 wonderful years. The Lord blessed them with 6 children.
Neil served in the Vermont National Guard for 3 years. He started his farming career working for Earl Hackett for a number of years before he began farming for himself. After participating in the farm buy-out he began working for Holdman's Trucking picking up milk and enjoying the interaction with the many farmers he met. In retirement he began driving school bus for Derby Elementary, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved the children, and they loved him.
Neil was a past member of the Derby Bible Baptist Church for 40 years and for nearly 20 years a member of the Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church. Neil served the Lord in both churches in many different capacities. He was also a member of the Gideons International helping to give out God's Word.
Neil is survived by his wife Yolande, and his 6 children. Christine Judy (Brig), Mason (Annmarie), Tammy Perry (Michael), Douglas (Lisa), Bonnie Shattuck (Bradley), James (Donna) and one sister-in-law, Jacqueline Palardy. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Also many nieces and nephews.
Neil was pre-deceased by his father and mother, and siblings George (Ruth), Emily, Mason, Merle (Caroline), and Maribelle Pray (Roger).
Calling hours will be Friday, November 21 from 5-7pm at Curtis Britch Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, Newport, VT. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 22 at 1pm at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church, Derby Vermont. There will be light refreshments following the service.
