Obituary

Martha Rose Darlington, 75, passed away on May 10, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Warren Darlington, whom she married on November 3, 1990.

Born to Adelard and Ila Poginy in Newport Center, Vermont on June 12, 1949, Martha was born into a loving family.

She was predeceased by her brothers Richard and Bernard, her sister Nora, and her brother-in-law Julius White. She leaves behind her loving family including her sister-in-law Janice Poginy; brothers Ramon, David (Diana), Michael (Nicole), and Patrick (Cindy); sisters Leona White, Joyce Poginy, Kathy (Buzzy) Baker, Madeline (William) Wolford, Mary (Michael) Staples, and Sarah (Dean) Deloach, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

Martha worked various jobs in the Newport area before her marriage. Following her wedding, she lived in Montreal where she obtained dual citizenship, then spent over 20 years in Victoria, British Columbia working for the Provincial Government. After retirement, Martha and Warren moved to Stanstead, Quebec to be closer to her family.

A devoted member of Mater Dei parish and formerly St. Andrew's in Victoria, Martha treasured family gatherings and dinner parties. She found joy in walks, reading, dancing, shopping trips, and Saturday afternoon card games with loved ones.

Her warm spirit and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. on Thursday May 15, 2025 at the Curtis-Britch & Bouffard Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, Newport. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday May 16, 2025 at St. Mary's Star of the sea Catholic Church with Rev. Dwight Baker celebrating a mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow at St. Mary's cemetery in Newport. Online condolences may be made at curtis-britch.com.
