Obituary for Karen Lee Crowe
(06/22/1951 - 03/12/2026)
Karen Lee Crowe, 74, of East Charleston VT, passed away suddenly on March 12, 2026, with family by her side. Karen was born in Burlington, VT on June 22nd, 1951, to Catherine Lucas Inman and Paul lucas. After suffering a TBI at 10 years old and having the strength and courage to learn again, she ended up graduating valedictorian of her specialized graduating class at NCUHS in 1971. She was very proud of that and displayed it in the home as an honor, as, after her sledding accident she struggled with learning and remembering. She met her husband, the love of her life, Alan Crowe in 1982, shortly after they got married June 16, 1983. They were married for 42 years. They built a beautiful family together with immense love and loyalty. That includes their eldest son Martin Markwell of Greensboro Bend, VT. Their daughter Sonja Crowe and her two children Noah Crowe-Patenaude and Nash Crowe-Patenaude of Morrisville, VT. Their son Seth Crowe of East Charleston, VT. As well as their youngest daughter, Selina Crowe and her spouse Chad Tetreault and their two sons, Layten Tetreault and Atreus Tetreault of East Charleston, VT. She is survived by her beloved husband Alan Crowe, her four beautiful children, her four precious grandsons, she adored. As well as her brother Steven Lucas and many Nieces and Nephews she loved so much. She is predeceased by her mother, Catherine Lucas Inman, Father, Paul Lucas, brother in law Clifford Crowe, sister in law Sherie Lucas and her beloved baby sister, Leslie Ann Lucas. As well as her favorite woman in the world her mother-in-law Katherine Crowe. Family was everything to Karen, she loved gatherings with her kids, grand-kids and close family, but "boy oh boy" you could not leave that gathering without a few good pictures to appease her love for photos. They were very special to her as she had some dating back to great great grandparents to recent. She held onto every happy memory she could. She was an avid knitter and crocheter, she loved drawing and doing anything with her hands. She recently joined North Country Quilting group with other woman with the love to learn to quilt, she was loving and enjoying every minute of it. She and her husband Alan were two peas in a pod and never left ones side. They did everything together. He was her saving grace in this life and the one whom made her feel safe, secure, loved, and accepted no matter what. She knew she would never be left behind or alone with him right beside her. They loved going antiquing together finding trinkets or furniture, she loved to add to her love of old collectibles. She loved her family trip to Maine last year to the botanical gardens, one of the very few trips she ever got to take, she loved to adventure and see new places. One of her favorite memories and past times were with her mother-in-law Katherine Crowe, that spent countless hours teaching her to cook, bake, knit, crochet, garden, and knit mittens, socks, hats and especially loved knitting clothes for teddy bears that would go to the unfortunate kids as donations every Christmas as gifts to cuddle. She loved her mother-in-law more than words could ever explain as she took time to spend with her and treated her as her own daughter. Her second home was Echo Lake where they spent almost every evening with their children from babies to adults then to their grandchildren swimming countless hours at the beach along side of her husband Alan. She absolutely loved going for a car ride any chance she got to look at scenery and in the spring and summer look for deer grazing in the fields. She was a lover of any flower that was colorful, beautiful, and fitted in where there was a spot she could find to put one then planted them every spring. She walked through the world with an innocent heart full of love, seeing the light in those who many would have forgotten. She held her loved ones on pedestals that many didn't see her worth of relationship, love and acceptance. She was such a special woman that would touch anyone's heart full of love, loyalty, and joy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the convenience of her family in the late spring / early summer. Online condolences are welcome at curtis-britch.com
