Joanne Moeykens, 72, of Newport, Vermont passed away on September 2, 2023 in Burlington, Vermont. She was born on August 19, 1951 in Colchester VT to Gene and Georgette (Theberge) Ste. Marie.
Joanne received an associate degree in clinical laboratory science from UVM. She was employed for many years as a lab technician at North Country Hospital in Newport. She was a loving, kind, gentle and caring person. Among her many hobbies, she enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and playing cards and games. She had a gift for growing and nurturing plants and flowers. She found great joy in going on cruises with her children and grandchildren and boating on Vermont's beautiful lakes with her siblings. Her focus was always on family. She loved planning and providing Christmases in VT for her grandchildren that they will always remember.
She is survived by her children: Jennifer Karanian and her husband David, William Moeykens, Christina Moeykens, and Melissa de Loureiro and her husband Brian, by her grandchildren: Madison, Riley, Kaitlyn, Nathan, AJ, Samuel, Kylie, Benjamin and Nicholas. She is also survived by her sisters: Carol Comtois and her husband Paul, Lisa Ste. Marie, by her brother Robert Ste. Marie and his wife Claudette, and by her stepbrother Msgr. Peter Routhier. She is also survived by her best friend and father of her children Andrew Moeykens and by her daughter-in-law Lori Moeykens, and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents: Gene and Georgette Ste. Marie, her Stepfather Armand Routhier, her stepsister Francis Routhier and by her beloved grandson David.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday September 9, 2023 at St. Mary Star of Sea Catholic Church where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Msgr. Peter Routhier. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
