Jessie M.
(Hunter) Lantagne
Feb 10, 1927 — Aug 18, 2024
Jessie M. (Hunter) Lantagne, 97, of Newport, Vermont, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024. She was born on February 10, 1927, in Collville, Washington to the late Vern R. Hunter and Edna (Potter).
On December 14, 1968, Jessie married Roland R. Lantagne, who predeceased her. Together they welcomed their son Reginald Gene Lantagne on September 21, 1969.
Jessie worked for the Telephone Company in Newport, Vt. as a Switchboard Operator, and worked for Montgomery Wards in Newport. She was a Lifetime Member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Alfred Pepin Post #798.
The place that Jessie loved most was Camp, where you could find her there most any weekend from Mother's Day through Thanksgiving Day. Her favorite pastime was playing cards with the relatives and close friends that would frequent the surrounding camps. Young or old, didn't matter; if you didn't know how to play, she was more than happy to school anyone on the finer points of each game played. There were many cookouts, graduations parties and good times celebrated over the years where everyone was welcome.
Jessie is survived by her children Randy Roberts and wife Ann of Center Barnstead N.H., Shanda Powers of Newport, Vt., Lynn Seguin of Derby, Vt., and Reginald Lantagne and wife Tammi of Newport Center, Vt; grandchildren Barbara Powers and her son Jackson Tellstone of Hinesburg, Vt., Lee Seguin and fiancé Jordan Shaheen of Plainfield, N.J., Alexis Lantagne of Newport Center, Vt., and Kevin Lantagne of Newport Center, Vt.
Jessie is also survived by nieces JoAnn Allar and family, Connie Dixon and family, Linda Sullivan and family, and Diane Haskell and family.
Jessie is predeceased by her brother Gene V. Hunter and wife Norma of Spokane, Wash., and by grandson Jesse Roberts of Center Barnstead, N.H. She is also predeceased by husbands Norman Heartbauer and Roland W. Roberts.
There will be a celebration of life from 4pm – 6pm on October 4, 2024, at the VFW Alfred Pepin Post #798 in Newport, Vt. with Pastor Wall officiating.
