Janice Drew, 80, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024 surrounded by her family.  Janice was born in Portland, Maine on August 8, 1944 to Howard Drew and Muriel (Hawksley) Drew.  She graduated from Deering High School in 1962 and worked for several years as a realtor in Portland.  During her years in Maine, Janice enjoyed time with her family and friends and her dogs, Cricket and Heidi.  She especially enjoyed summer days at "camp" on Stanley Pond in South Hiram, Maine.

Janice moved to Newport in 1992 to be closer to family.  She was a resident at Michaud Manor for many years, where she is remembered for her kindness and her sense of humor.  Janice always had a joke to share.  One of her jokes was published in the April, 1973 edition of Reader's Digest.

Janice is survived by her sister, Elaine Schurman of Newport, Vermont, and her nieces and nephews: Linda Schurman (Glenn Gerber), David Schurman, Bill Schurman (Michele Routhier Schurman), Tammy Schurman (Bart D'Hooge) and Jill Schurman (Frank Rivera).  Also surviving her: grandnieces and grandnephews, Daniel Gerber, Alison Gerber, Chloe D'Hooge and Charlie Schurman, and great-grandnephew, Owen Gerber.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date to be determined.
