Obituary

Iona Delia Carter, 92, of Derby, Vermont passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025 with her family by her side.  Iona was born on April 28, 1933 to Alfred and Dorothy (Sanville) Bullis. Iona married Wayne Carter on August 12, 1950 and they were married for 54 years.

Iona was a loving housewife who enjoyed caring and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Iona also enjoyed through her years knitting, her passion for church, watching her favorite shows, family gatherings and visiting with her many family and friends, and taking care of many children in the neighborhood over the years. She

Iona is survived by her children: Rosemarie and Don Bowen, Candice Allard and Bill Anthony, Joel and Becky, Patricia and Jim Pierce and Ronald Carter, by her grandchildren: Angel and Dave LaBerge, Chelsey and Shelly and Seiara, Troy and Heather Bowen, Victoria, Don and Erika Bowen, Kyle, Kaylee, Nick, Amanda Wright and Jason Colburn, Tristin, Travon, and Nathan Carter, Patrick Ushman, Caydon, Billy Carter,Bobby Carter, Bryn, Madyson, and Crystal, by her great great grandchildren and she has special place in her heart for Donna Colburn, Heather and Alyssa.

She was predeceased by her husband Wayne her sons Wayne Carter, Jr, Reginald Carter, her granddaughter Ashley Allard, and by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. To honor Iona's wishes the service and burial will be in the Spring at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers or donations may be made to the Mary E. Wright Foundation, 1073 Upper Quarry Road, Newport, Vermont  05855. A very special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses on the 3rd floor at North Country Hospital for such great care of our Mom and Gram.
