Herb was a quiet, thoughtful and humble person. He was a very intelligent man who could engineer, imagine, create, redo, fix, and restore anything handed to him. His family and so many others benefited greatly from his skills and abilities. At a young age he entered the workforce as a mechanic, then went on to become an aviation mechanic. Herb became quite taken by aviation. He obtained his Pilot's License and went on to become a certified Flight Engineer. He worked for Eastern Airlines as a Flight Engineer, a job he stated was "one of the greatest joys of his life" When computers took over that role, he continued his career as an aviation mechanic. Herb eventually bought and restored his own airplane, a Piper Cub. He was particularly proud of this acquisition and had many enjoyable hours flying on his own and with family.
Herb enjoyed the tranquility of the NorthEast Kingdom and visited here on numerous occasions for hunting and fishing prior to moving here. Living next to Danny and his shop was a highlight for Herb and he savored the hours spent working alongside Danny in the shop and even had his own designated warm, dry work area, where he could be found everyday.

Herbert enjoyed a last and memorable flight when he visited Dave and his family in North Carolina. While there he visited an aviation museum and Kitty Hawk and spent time reminiscing about his time in the air.
Herb and Kate's final home in Derby Line was an exciting and a well deserved undertaking, and They enjoyed a number of happy years there together prior to Kate's passing. During some of those years they were able to share time in their home with their granddaughter Sydny, time that brought lasting and happy memories for all of them. Herb's move to Vermont also allowed him to reconnect and spend time with his " Vermont family." The visits and time spent with his brother in law and dear friend Bob and Niece Patti were cherished times and brought Herb great joy. 10 years ago Herb welcomed two new family members when Lynn and Ibrahim joined Bob's life. Family were always his closest friends.
Herb was blessed with children who took care of the many facets of his life that allowed him to remain at home until His passing.
