Harriet May Bickford, 87, of Burlington passed away on September 3, 2025 in Lebanon, NH. She was born on January 26, 1938 in Barton, VT to the late Harry Metcalf and Corrie Batchelder. When she was 10 years old, she was adopted by Harold Wood.

Harriet worked as a kitchen aide in numerous locations for many years. In her later years she became a foster grandparent, something that she loved doing. She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, loved playing bingo, dancing, shopping, going out to eat, going for car rides and she loved being around babies and toddlers. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Burlington.

She is survived by her daughter Pauline Bickford, grandchild Casey Cushing, great grandchild Eliana Allard, brother Harold Wood Jr, and his wife Paula, sister Bonnie Glazier, stepsister Diane Ward and her husband John, as well as many stepchildren and grandchildren and many nieces' nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her many friends at Cathedral Square in Burlington, VT which was her home for the past 25 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Merlin Bickford in 1982 and her son Scott Bickford who died in 1989 and her stepmother Yvonne Wood in 2024.

Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the funeral at 11:00 on Thursday September 11, 2025 at the Curtis-Britch & Bouffard Funeral Home, 37 Lake Road, Newport, with Rev. Mickey Richards officiating.  Interment will follow at Newport Center Cemetery.
