Obituary

Gloria A. Vincent

Gloria A. Vincent, 88, of Newport, Vermont, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on January 15, 2026. She was born in North Troy, Vermont, on May 21, 1937, to Raymond and Bertha Hart. She grew up as one of three children and spent the majority of her life in North Troy.

Gloria was a barber by trade and spent countless hours in her shop cutting the hair of many local residents. She also worked for many years in the kitchen at the Troy School, where she remained until her retirement.

Gloria's greatest purpose in life was raising and caring for her boys and grandchildren. She provided a loving, welcoming home to all and was known for her generosity and warmth. She loved to cook and took great pride in her home and property. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her friends.

Gloria had a strong faith in God and the Catholic religion. She was a devoted member of St. Vincent de Paul and Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

On September 6, 1954, Gloria married the love of her life, Maurice Vincent. Together they raised four sons and provided a home away from home for their seven grandchildren, as well as countless friends of their boys. Their lives were forever changed when their youngest son, Christopher, passed away unexpectedly in 2007. Life was never quite the same after that loss. When Maurice passed away in 2017, Gloria chose to sell the family home and move to Newport to be closer to her sons, Steven and Brian. There, she built a beautiful home, which she took great pride in and cared for until her final days.

Gloria is survived by her sons: Steven and his wife Carmen of Newport, Vermont and Ocala, Florida; Brian of Newport, Vermont; and Dennis and his wife Sandra of Westfield, Vermont; and by her daughter-in-law Cindy Vincent-Goodyear and her husband Matt of Jay, Vermont.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Nathan and his wife Andrea of Barton, Vermont; Elizabeth Fogg and her husband Chuck of Saco, Maine; Chad Vincent of Newport, Vermont; Brooke Gosselin and her husband Roger of Westfield, Vermont; Zachary Vincent and his wife Jasmine of Westfield, Vermont; Seth Vincent and his wife Melinda of North Troy, Vermont; and Jenna Watkins and her husband Joseph of Barton, Vermont.

She is further survived by her great-grandchildren: Kennedy, Madeline, Jaxson, Zoey, Ivy, Ava, Sydney, Mack, Harper, Zara, Emma, Sylvia, Austin, Jace, and Josie; and by her great-great-granddaughter, Iris.

Gloria is also survived by her sister, Virginia Drown of Newport Center, Vermont; several nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Jeannine Christie, and nephew, Chuck Drown and his wife Sue.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Maurice Vincent; her son, Christopher Vincent; her parents, Raymond and Bertha Hart; her brother, Raymond "Sonny" Hart; and by ten sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the family's convenience in the spring. Online condolences are welcomed at curtis-britch.com. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Curtis-Britch & Bouffard Funeral home & Cremation Service, locally family owned and operated.
