Cora Eleanor Joeckel, 88, of Derby, VT passed away on September 11, 2024 at her home in Derby with her family by her side. She was born on May 3, 1936 in Newport, VT to the late Cleveland and Phyllis (Morse) Cornell.

Cora worked as a secretary for the State of VT for many years. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, gardening, dancing and fishing in Alaska. She loved all animals except frogs and was devoted to her family and others she loved.

She is survived by her children Colleen Smith, Karen Joeckel and Craig Joeckel and his wife Terry, many grand and great grandchildren, brothers Amos and Stuart Cornell and sister Carolyn Darcy. She is also survived by the children of her companion of over 30 years Guy Dion, Marcy and Stu, Mark and Michelle, Milan, Marlene and Michelle and Glen.

She was predeceased by her husband Wilheim Joeckel, brothers Sidney,  Cleveland and Stanley Cornell, sister June Desrochers, sisters-in-law Cynthia, Judy and Doreen Cornell, brother-in-law Roland Desrochers and her companion Guy Dion.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday September 21, 2024 at Berlin Corners Cemetery in Berlin, VT.
