Connie L.
Walker
Sep 14, 1955 — Oct 25, 2026
Underhill, Vermont
Connie Walker of Underhill, VT passed peacefully Sunday morning October 25th, with family by her side and in the home that she and her husband built. She is predeceased by her husband Robert, her father George, mother Ouida, sister Doreen, brother Larry, and sister Gayle. Connie is survived by her sister Lorraine, brother Michael, sister Lori, and by her children, Ryan (daughter-in-law Kelly), Kyle (daughter-in- law Catherine) and Stephanie (son-in-law Kyle), along with many grandchildren.
Connie was born in Newport on Sept 14th, 1955. She grew up in Island Pond and graduated from North Country High School. She and Bob married in 1975, and began her dream of starting their family. She raised her kids with incredible love and devotion. She was grateful for the simple things in life – making donuts, tending to plants, and having good seafood. She loved the sun, the snow, and the smell of cow manure. She was happy with the life she and Dad made together. Mom was a model of kindness and selflessness, always giving of herself for others and never one to easily receive. Serving others filled her with joy. Connie was also a hard worker and spent hours picking stones, staining walls, stacking wood, pushing mowers, weeding gardens and more, all without a sour note. She saw and respected others’ work as well, and it would show in how she would race to open a door if your arms were full, or clean and pick up at the pace of any project in progress.
When her kids were older, she found a place to use her gifts while caring for students at Mt. Mansfield High School as a para-educator. Later she worked as a caretaker for a wonderful family where she found joy in caring, cooking, cleaning, and sharing her many talents.
As a grandmother, her heart overflowed. The most joy and biggest smiles would shine as she would simply watch her grandkids play and laugh. All was right in the world when the grandkids were with her. She left a legacy of love and kindness with all of them.
Mom’s entrance into eternity will be observed Thursday, Oct 29th at 6pm at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Burlington. Her body will be laid to rest in Lakeside Cemetery at 11am Friday Oct 30th, and a gathering following at 4pm in her home. Mom – we love you so much. We always will.
