Charlotte A. Vinal, 85, of Newport, Vermont passed away on January 6, 2026 at her home.  She was born on March 15,1940 in Newport, Vermont to Stanley and Mary (Raney) Sargent.

Charlotte worked in a factory in Connecticut making buttons and in Vermont she worked at the former Newport Plastics Co.  In her younger years she worked on her family farm.

Among her hobbies, she enjoyed fishing, collecting at yard sales, horseback riding, playing cards and board games, spending time with her family and with her cats Luna, Cartwheel, Teco, and her dog Rusty. She had over 50 pen pals.

She is survived by her children: David Vinal and his wife Patricia of New York, Ricky Vinal, Sr of Newport, Vermont, and Linda Bowen and her husband Michael of West Charleston, Vermont, by her grandchildren: Christopher and Dean Vinal, Ricky, Jr and Brian Vinal, Ashley and Cheri Vinal, Jeffrey Pfeiffer, and Desiree Vinal, by her great grandchildren: Adriana and Braxton Gerhart and Orion Pfeiffer, by her brother Charlie Sargent of Massachusetts, by her sister Caroline Dopp of Derby Line, Vermont, and by several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Bruce Vinal, her brother George Woods, and her brother-in-law Larry Dopp.

Funeral services will be held on Monday January 19, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Free Will Baptist Church in West Charleston with Pastor Glen Peterson officiating. A reception will follow immediately after the service at the Church.
