Carol Ann
Madison
Jun 30, 1948 — Jun 25, 2024
Carol Ann Madison (née Page), 75, passed away on June 25, 2024, in Syracuse, New York with family at her bedside. She was born on June 30, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Russell W. Page and Deronda Bird Page, who predeceased her; and is survived by her sister Denise. Carol is also survived by: her daughter Renee and son-in-law Tom; her two grandchildren, Anna and Jason; and, her son Brian. Carol was a devoted mom and nana.
As a passionate and curious life-long learner, she was a graduate of Indiana University and the University of Notre Dame. Carol spent many years working in university administration, providing her an opportunity to live her passion and develop future leaders in the community. She retired as the Executive Director of the Tobias Center for Leadership Excellence at Indiana University.
Carol loved spending time with family, reading, jigsaw puzzles and music, whether playing the piano or singing. She was a member of North United Methodist Church, spending many years as a member of the choir and accompanist for the children's choir. She retired to her father's home town in Holland, Vermont in 2016 with her beloved dog Dudley. There, she embraced her love for the quiet, solitude and beauty of the Northeast Kingdom.
Carol will be laid to rest at Mead Hill Cemetery at a graveside service on August 3rd at 1pm. Friends are invited to gather following the service at her cabin in Vermont. In lieu of flowers, and in honor to her dedication to community and leadership, memorial donations can be made to the Carol Madison Fund (https://tobiascenter.iu.edu/tobias-fellows/carol-madison-fund.html) established in 2016, to support the growth and development of future leaders of the Tobias Fellows Program (formerly known as the Hoosier Fellows Program).
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
