Obituary

Anne Miriam Lalime
January 3, 1941 – January 13, 2025

Anne Miriam Lalime of Newport, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at the Bel-Aire Center on January 13, 2025, at the age of 84.

Born on January 3, 1941, to Eugene and Miriam Lalime, Anne grew up in Newport and attended Sacred Heart High School, graduating in 1959. She continued her education at the University of Vermont, earning her degree in 1964. One of the highlights of her early years was a summer spent in Paris, where she attended the Sorbonne on a student visa.

Anne enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Medical Technologist. She began her work at Fletcher Hospital in Burlington and later continued her profession at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. Despite her career accomplishments, Newport always held a special place in her heart. In 2001, Anne returned to her hometown, purchasing a house on Outlook Street just three doors from her childhood home.

In 2003, Anne selflessly moved in with her mother to provide constant care until her mother's passing in 2005. Following this, Anne returned to her house on Outlook Street, where she lived until her health necessitated a move to the Bel-Aire Center in August 2022.

A devout Catholic, Anne was deeply involved with her parish, St. Mary Star of the Sea, where she was a faithful communicant and a dedicated member of the choir. She also volunteered her time for various church functions, always ready to lend a helping hand. Anne's life was marked by her love of knitting, which she took with her wherever she traveled, and her devotion to her furry companions, who brought her great comfort and joy.

Anne will be remembered for her generous and selfless spirit, always putting the needs of others before her own. Whether it was a kind word or the last dollar in her pocket, she gave freely to those in need. Even in her later years, she found joy in sharing with residents and staff at the Bel-Aire Center. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate and attentive staff, whose exceptional care, kindness, and companionship brought comfort to Anne in her final years.

Anne is survived by her brother, Walter "Butch" Lalime, and his wife, Carole, of South Burlington, VT; her sister, Katharyn Girouard, of Venice, FL; eight nieces and nephews: Kenneth Girouard, Philip Lalime, David Lalime (Patricia), Michael Lalime (Erin), Mark Lalime (Calli), Monica Lalime (Chris), Joanne Rheaume (Joe), and Jennifer Rizzotti (Christopher); as well as four great-nephews and one great-niece.

Funeral services to honor Anne's life will take place on Thursday, January 23, 2025. A calling hour will be held at Curtis Britch Funeral Home at 37 Lake Road from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Star of the Sea at 11:00 a.m.
